Let's get stupid!

LET’S GET STUPID
You read that right. Let’s get stupid!  Life is way too short to be spent trying to achieve unrealistic goals. So, let’s just get stupid and see how that goes. Or not.  Ok, part of it is true, life is definitely short, but no goal is unrealistic, as long as you can think about it, it’s real. Leaving that for another chat, I just want to get stupid right now.
What I mean by that is take the load off. You are working towards a particular goal, and you are dedicating all your energy to it. It’s going on well, and perhaps some details don’t quite match the original plan. You are probably worried that you might not follow through. Chill, you are still breathing and that’s what important, the rest is upon time and fate. The sun is shining, feel the wind, fresh aroma of flowers, birds singing a chorus they are all sending one message…. Wait for it, LIFE IS AMAZING!
Sometimes you just need the universe to take over. Normally when I’m stuck with a question, physics to be specific, I get stupid, I sleep. Silly ,right? Not really, it’s my way of commanding my head to figure out a problem while I get a nice beauty sleep. I not only command the universe to work on my clock, I also get to think of life on a large scale. More often than not I wake up to an answer. Of course I’m not saying you should sleep every time you stumble. I’m silly, don’t do as I do. My point is simple, take a break. A tiny break, a few hours of the week won’t hurt anyone. The world won’t definitely stop revolving. It will definitely rejuvenate you.
Most if not all cases of illnesses are due to psychological reasons.  When you are stressed just know holding on to negative energy won’t make it any better.  Play like nothing has consequences, for old time’s sake. It’s actually good for your health. You got two options, either work endlessly to your deathbed or just relax, taking one step at a time and actually achieve something. We both know the real deal.
Life is short, enjoy it while it lasts. Work hard, and while at it have fun. Nothing is more rewarding than that. When nothing makes sense, let’s get stupid, it’s good for your health. Yes, I’m not being sarcastic.

Friction

So, according to Physics, static friction increases with applied force up to a maximum value and then switches to a smaller value of kinetic friction. Nothing new, nothing rocket science, just  daily application of Physics. Consider the case where you have a heavy box on the floor and you want to move it. Here is what happens before it actually moves, the harder you push, the harder it becomes to move. You’ll have to sweat since static friction reciprocates what the force you apply. The moment you have managed to move the box, you feel a relief, kinetic friction takes charge.
Sounds familiar? Have you ever tried doing something great and the harder you try, the more hopeless it seems. My friend, you have an encounter with natural friction and the good news is it gets better. You are trying to move a box and it’s only natural to face resistance. The friends who weren’t really friends, the family that will keep discouraging you, the little voice in your head that keeps warning you of failure, it can all be summarized in one word- friction.  If you stick to the plan much longer you will notice that it only gets better. Once the box is moving, you coast all the way to success.
Truth is it is static friction that results to fear. Fear is the ultimate form of resistance that will glue the box to the ground. The world is more exciting with moving boxes, than just boxes seated.  All the history makers we know faced friction- a lot of it. Michael Faraday, William Kamkwamba, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln among others will all back me up on this one. Friction is natural and the universe expects us to keep pushing. Push as if your whole life depends on it and well a smile is guaranteed. The box needs to move, so keep pushing , you know why? It only gets better.

You are enough!

Have you ever felt like the ground should just open up and swallow you up? Have you ever been in that dark place where you feel useless and are probably a mistake of creation? I know I have, I like to call that feeling a monster because no word is bitter enough to describe it. It is my opinion that we all face this monster at some point in our lives. When we were babies, this monster was like us, so tiny that we never really noticed it. Then we came into a world that constantly feeds it. Parents compared us to the cutest baby in the nursery; teachers always said we are not smart enough.  The media is always telling us we are not pretty enough.  As we might expect, the monster too keeps growing and before we know it, it is already sucking us.
After encountering this monster for quite some time, I have a theory about it. It is always present, always sucking energy. But we are always preoccupied that we don’t notice it, whatever it is sucking, we can easily refill it with projects, families and friends. Put these out of the equation and we have a monster-alone. Slowly it feeds your head with, ‘you are not good enough’, ‘nobody needs you’, ‘just give up, you do know that you are up to no good, right?’, ‘you are too grumpy to fit in’. And that is what I call sucking. That phase is really scary, if you actually listen to it, you will obviously end up to no good.
I know sometimes it gets too loud that we can’t really ignore it, it’s understandable but what is not acceptable is giving in. Agreeing with it and sulking all day doesn’t help anyone, not the monster and definitely not you.  There is one simple statement I have been using and it has worked like how incense chases demons – I’m alive. It’s that simple. If you have been studying patterns of the universe, you will have noticed that everything has a purpose. There is a reason we have to see the sun day in day out, there is a reason why have shooting stars, there is a reason why you are still alive. Whether it is because you’ll be the next Mark Zucherberg or you will save a dying soul, I don’t know. But I’m sure there is a solid reason you are still breathing. That’s just how the universe works. Sometimes it is more about what you do to the universe than what it does to you. When we were babies, we were so busy playing that we never noticed the monster. It’s high time we started playing again and this time you should mean it.
Someone once said ‘So keep your head high, keep your chin up and most importantly keep smiling because life is beautiful.’ That person was Marilyn Monroe. I could get it at first, why would anyone with practically everything in the world face this monster? It’s simple, the monster is universal, doesn’t really care how pretty or famous you are, it is just constantly there. Point is if you don’t squash it with anecdotes like life is beautiful, it might just end sucking all that is left. So the next time you encounter this monster, smile (even through the tears) and calmly say Life is amazing! And it will be.

Hello World!

There comes a time when nothing makes sense. It all looks pretty dark and to make it worse, the world keeps rotating as if nothing happened. Surely according to Newton’s law, the earth has to be affected in some way. No, it doesn’t, as a matter of fact it might as well make matters worse. Once you have experienced this it’s high time to say ‘Hello World’, in short welcome to life.
Nothing has guaranteed success, not even the probability that you’ll read this article to the end. The world is rough and hard cored; it doesn’t always give you what you want. And in most cases, it gives a tiny fraction of what we want. So when you have bad day, all I can say is ‘Welcome to the world’. When you first entered it you cried and the crying phase has expired. It’s time to grow up!
I have been stressing a lot about staying positive and persistent but shit happens. We don’t always get what we want. Above it all, life is too short to live anticipating all the wrong variables that could be thrown into the equation. Life is meant to be enjoyed even when nothing seems to be working. ‘Life goes on’ though cliché is the shortest way to explain it. When we fail, we could choose to sulk up for days or even weeks or we could do something about it, persist and fight till the world responds. It’s up to us because either way, life goes on and what happens next is entirely up to us.
Having a bad day? Been there done that, fasten your seat belts… Winners never quit, let’s do this!!

Guess what?

So, you have given up on your childhood dream.  I don’t know exactly what it is but I do know what you tell yourself every time an opportunity shows up. “I’m too old for that”, “I’m not good enough”, “I tried it and I failed”, “I won’t fit in” “The other guys are just so good, I don’t stand a chance”… need I say more? That’s exactly what goes on in my mind sometimes. Those are the exact same things my head tells me. I have succeeded in silencing by one single statement. Guess what?
Guess what? Stephen Hawking is a genius, physicist and cosmologist. He has done what Albert Einstein didn’t finish and something in between those lines. Oh wait, I forgot one bit of information that makes the story interesting. He is paralyzed, he is permanently on a wheel chair and I still don’t understand how he manages to communicate.  Is he a miracle? Being a scientist I have a totally different explanation. Of course Stephen knew that he was physically impaired and he was obviously getting negative influences all around him. One thing he did for sure was make a name for himself, not for the fact that he is disabled but for his childhood dream. Even though I don’t totally agree with his views, guess what? I know him.
If you think you have failed enough, put yourself in Abraham Lincoln’s shoes. The guy failed far too many times for any human to endure.  He persisted and well, we all know the end of the story.
We make a whole of excuses you know. All these reasons we use to justify our decisions; they are in fact just excuses, nothing more. We listen to the sneaky voices in our heads because it’s easy. It’s easy not to do anything but hey what good does it do? In the long run it leaves regrets and what ifs. I’m not saying success will eventually follow once you give it a try.  A line in a Coldplay song goes ‘If you’ll never try, you’ll never know’ and I think it summarizes a whole lot of a paragraph. Stop giving excuses and just do it! It’s worth it. Let go of that fear, because guess what? You are the obstacle standing in the way of realizing your dreams.
